Quilt Show Committee

Having categories that would be determined.

Asking for any show quilts to be created or finished in the prior 18 months.

Have a label pinned on the back, much like the State Fair does, so that identity is not known when judged.

Perhaps, no quilt that has previously been in a quilt show, fair of any kind, or any type of judging event shall be allowed.

Judges shall be a mixture of individuals in our guild (one-fourth) and individuals from other local guilds (three-fourths).

Question to consider: Will the show be a mixture of quilts done for charity or donation and "our best"?

Question to consider: Will the show have items other than quilts, such as quilted jackets, quilted gifts, quilted purses/totes/bags?

Question to consider: Consider having one or two food trucks, with the church's permission, in the parking lot to have guests come at various times or perhaps get more individuals to peruse the items? Also, we did have the one person who had her fabric store trailer that she brought along. Perhaps find out and have her here.

Question to consider: When I began to learn about quilting, I wanted to see what it was like in action. How about having a person sewing an art quilt (April Sterling and Peg Bertelli come to mind), one person cutting fabric for a quilt, and another sewing a patchwork type of quilt where guests could watch, ask questions, and see one step of the quilting taking place from the whole process?

Question to consider: A few years back, we all came together to sew a quilt for Ukraine as their tragic war began. Is there either a local cause we have not yet supported or an international cause that has arisen that leads itself to an event of "sewing for a cause"? The quilt could be created by a group, perhaps, who would gather the fabrics and decide upon the pattern. Then sewing dates announced at various places and times so that anyone and everyone could have the opportunity to cut fabric, sew some of the blocks, sew together the areas, etc. The final quilt could be "advertised" on the local news, the Current, the local radio, etc. People could buy a raffle ticket in advance, from us, or at the show. We would announce when the winner would be chosen, etc. Again, just thinking outside the box a bit.
