We were fortunate to have Maday Delgado of Sustainable Textile Designs share her wealth of knowledge with us for our May meeting. Maday brought an energy and passion around the subject of making tapestries and pieces with reclaimed fabrics and using traditional methods of Sashiko and other forms of embroidery to bring the surface of these textiles to life. She shared wonderful examples of her work with us at the general meeting and then taught a class on Sashiko in the afternoon.

Maday obviously adores curves!!! And we adored her tapestries that were full of curves, surface embellishments, color expressions, and all things fiber.
After a lunch break 20 lucky ladies gathered to learn Sashiko from Maday's delightful teaching style. She was very sure to point out that she was giving us the knowledge, but we were good to use that knowledge in a way that suited us. But she was also quick to point out if we were using an interesting interpretation of her instruction! LOL. It was a wonderful time spent with guild friends and acquaintences, gaining knowledge and a new skill to help us further our talents and love of creating. Thank you Maday for a day we will remember fondly.
We had a good crowd on hand today to hear Maday speak and as always a wonderful selection of quilts to oh and ah over during Show N Tell.
The BOM for May was a wonderful Missouri Star pattern and the blocks turned in were so colorful. 2 lucky winners went home with 8 blocks each.
