April Meeting and Program

We had a wonderful April meeting with a Curator from the Indiana State Museum who is in charge of the Quilt Collection the museum cares for. She brought some old and interesting quilts from their collection. This one was just jaw dropping in it's construction and intricacy. What a privilege to see some of these awe inspiring quilts and artifacts. We are so fortunate to live in a city that looks to prserve the past, especially when it's dear to our hearts in the world of quilting.

As always, our members were busy preparing items for donation to our various charities and activities. We had 30 Star Puzzle blocks turned in for the A Year In Stars BOM. What a pretty array. 3 lucky winners for to take home 9 blocks each for their desired use. And who do you think one of those winners was? Yes, Ellen H, of course!

More of the wonderful items turned in this month, heart pillows, children's quilts and dog scarves!

Our Quilt Of Valor table is always dressed in a lovely quilt ready for a deserving veteran. Thank you ladies for your diligence in preparing quilts to have on hand for your presentations.

And now for the real stars of the day, or Show N' Tell!! And once again, you ladies did not disappoint. We had new and long standing members share their creations this month. We love it when our new members get excited to share their finished projects!! Don't be shy, plan to present your items next month.

So many wonderful quilts and accessories were shared. And each one an inspiration! Nancy T has on the red, white and black vest in one of those photos above. She explained that she made usre to finish it just in time for the warm weather to arrive!! LOL. And if you see a little Grinch Christmas up there, Melissa S wasn't sure if she was late with this finish or REALLY early for this year! I just love to see how some of our quilters use up their scraps on the back. If we turned out the lights on that last quilt shown by Chris L, we would see some spooky skulls and spider webs on the quilt she made for her grandson. He requested glow in the dark fabric!

And now we wait until the next time we can gather together and share our love for quilting. Don't forget the upcoming opportunities to come together and sew, check out the calendar for all the events over the next 2 weeks. Make sure to RSVP so we know you're coming.
